General Dentistry covers most treatments of Dentistry, provided they are not special cases or require greater specialization.

The dentist or dental Surgeon General usually perform most common treatments: diagnosis of tooth decay or gum disease, dental prophylaxis or prevention of diseases, treatments fillings, root canals, gum inflammation treatments without surgery, etc.. In more complex cases or when the dentist considers it appropriate, he or the patient is referred to a specialist, for example in cases of complex root canals, implants, oral restoration (prosthodontics), advanced aesthetics or management of pediatric patients.
